I have been a practicing social worker in the Lehigh Valley for over 20 years. I received both my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. My work experience ranges from roles as a counselor in a family based community program, a social worker in mental health LTSR and community based program, an inpatient Hospice and Palliative Care Social Worker, an outpatient Bereavement Coordinator, and a outpatient mental health therapist.
I have experience working with both adolescents and adults whom have a range of behavioral and mental health issues. Most of my expertise lies in working with individuals whom struggle with depression, anxiety. grief/loss, mood and adjustment disorders, as well as trauma/PTSD. I have a holistic and strengths based approach to my care in attempt to meet all the different and complex needs of my patients. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Grief & Loss, Mindfulness, as well as Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing. I am a certified clinician in C-DBT and EMDR.
After working for others for a number of years, I finally had enough of just offering basic care. The meaning behind opening The Calm Space is to offer a more holistic approach to how we treat and care for our mental health. Holistic health is about caring for the whole person — providing for your physical, mental, spiritual, and social needs. It's rooted in the understanding that all these aspects affect your overall health, and being unwell in one aspect affects you in others. It's a more comprehensive and personalized way of thinking about wellness. My hope and goal is to offer more just traditional therapy, but support groups, skills and processing groups as well as more eastern medicine such as Reiki and Aromatherapy.
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of a day saying, "I will try again tomorrow." -Mary Ann Radmacher
