I started my career in the mental health field as a Recreation Counselor in a residential treatment facility for children and adolescents, while pursuing my Bachelor’s degree. Upon graduation from DeSales University with my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, I began working full time as a Child Care Counselor (now commonly referred to as Mental Health Technician). I remained working with children and adolescents as a Child Care Counselor while I pursued my Master’s degree. I graduated with my Master of Social Work Degree (MSW) from Kutztown University. Following graduation, I began working as a Clinician/Therapist in the residential treatment facility working with children, adolescents and their families providing individual, family and group therapies. I eventually transferred to the agency's diagnostic program where I had the opportunity to not only continue providing therapy but also work to determine diagnoses and the best services for the children/adolescents and their families. In early 2019, I began working in an outpatient private practice setting providing therapy and counseling to children, adolescents, and adults. I also have experience providing Tele-Health services both through local practice and a national website.
I have experience working with clients, both children and adults, who have a variety of mental health needs including conduct disorder, anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, Bi-polar disorder, adjustment disorder, and more. I have helped clients through life transitions, adjustment issues, relationship issues, parenting, trauma, grief, abuse and more. I have experience providing individual, family, and group counseling services, as well as crisis intervention. I am certified in both C-DBT and EMDR.
My counseling style is strengths-based, warm, and interactive. My goal is to help others in their desire to improve upon themselves and meet both treatment and life goals. I typically utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to help my clients focus on connecting thoughts, emotions and behaviors. I want to help my clients understand how thoughts, behaviors, and emotions relate and influence one another as well as how they can restructure their thinking in an attempt to develop healthier thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors. I work from a strengths-based approach in which I focus on a client’s strengths, resiliency, and resourcefulness, and less on weaknesses, failures, and shortcomings. I strive to aid clients in developing mood stability and safety to live their best life.
