I have 15 years of experience working in Behavioral Health and the Mental Health field. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Rosemont College with a Sociology degree and Women’s Studies. I worked as a Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) for a family based agency working with children, pre-teens, and teens, who are on the spectrum, to help them build social and life skills to function in their environment. I then worked as a Family-Based Mental Health Therapist working specifically with children and adolescents who are at risk for out of home placement. This role increased my passion for helping children and families overcome mental health challenges and struggles.
I continued my studies at Walden University and received my Master of Science in Clinical Psychology. While in graduate school, I worked as a psychotherapist at Pinebrook Family Services working with children, pre-teens, and teenagers whom suffered from emotional and behavioral issues ranging from depression, anxiety, autistic spectrum disorder, as well as trauma issues. I continued working as a Behavior Specialist and a Mobile therapist while I continued to gain more experience as a Family-Based Therapist. I utilized therapy techniques such as Eco-Systemic Structural Family Therapy to assist the families in reaching their goals. I currently am a Certified Mental Health Professional, Trauma Informed Therapist, and Eco-systemic Structural Family therapist.
My expertise has been focused on working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and parents with various behavioral and mental health needs, including ADHD, Behavioral issues, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar, Autism, and ODD. I have helped children and families with coping skills, conflict resolution, domestic abuse, emotional disturbance, and divorce by using the ESFT model to promote attachment, strengthen executive Leadership, self-regulation, and foster therapeutic alliance. I also have experience working with couples and families and in crisis intervention.
My counseling and therapeutic approach are strengths-based interventions focusing on areas of life that have been impacted. This focus allows me to see patterns and understand the problem from the root and communication style. I like to look at a person as a system, knowing that everyone has unique characteristics and personalities which should have different needs based on their issues. My goal is for others to look in the mirror and feel good about themselves, and love who they are as a person with differences. I am working on completing licensure for my Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Behavior Specialist. I strive for patients to understand the behavioral aspect and mental health approach to build their path.
