I started my career in the mental health field as a student at Bryn Athyn College, where I graduated with a B.A. degree in Psychology. Upon graduation, I worked for adults who are on the spectrum to help them improve their quality of life by building social and life skills. I continued my education at Rosemont College for a Master's degree in Professional Counseling. While in graduate school, I worked in a residential facility as a youth and family counselor working with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges who have been placed out of the home. After I finish the program, I continue gaining my experience by transferring to the family-based department, spending the last 3 years providing care for children/ adolescents who are at risk for out-of-home placement and their families using the eco-systemic family therapy model to work towards improving family attachment, cohesion, and self-regulation.
I have experience working with both children and adult clients who have a variety of mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, Bipolar disorder. I have also helped clients who have difficulties in self-harming ideation/ tendencies, ADHD, relationship issues, and more. I have experience providing individual, couple, and family counseling as well as crisis interventions.
My counseling style and therapeutic approach are strengths-based interventions to meet my clients' needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Play therapy, The Gottman Method, and Solution-focused therapy. I also empathized with the systemic viewpoints that allow me to see the thoughts and behavioral patterns, communication styles, and interactions within themself and the family system as a whole. I recently obtained my certification as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and completed training in Eye Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I strive to help my clients connect with themselves differently by creating and developing a deeper understanding of their emotional and physical states. My hope is to help my clients achieve positive and cohesive lifestyles through their personal strengths and to face their fears safely.
