I started my counseling career path interning at a homeless shelter. There, I worked on helping the men in the program better understand their emotions and work through their past experiences to help create the best possible futures for themselves. This experience helped me earn my Master's Degree in Christian Family, Marriage, and Individual Counseling from Southeastern. Since graduating, I have been working a full-time position as the supervisor of the Family Based Mental Health program at Valley Youth House and working part time here at the Calm Space.
I am currently on track to obtain my LMFT to allow me to continue my work with families and individuals. I am gathering experience as both a supervisor and clinician and I am excited to apply my knowledge to my clients. Additionally, I am working towards strengthening my skills on helping those struggling with depression, anxiety and addiction. My career goal is to become the best possible therapist to people who are wanting to better their own lives.
As your therapist, I lean towards strength-based and solution-focused theories as I believe every person, if given the tools and assistance, is capable of conquering the problems that are hindering their lives. I desire to have all my clients see themselves as the heroes to their own problems and can accomplish the goals we set together. I believe therapy is a tool that if used properly can make a major difference in almost anyone's life. My faith and education have encouraged me to step into the fire and help anyone who is dealing with struggles climb their way out. I look forward to helping my clients in the future.
